Introducing Abbey Hybl!

After graduating from college, our newest Rêve instructor, Abbey Hybl, came to the studio in search of a new athletic challenge. A lifelong soccer player, she was looking for something to provide her with the camaraderie of a team and a workout to take place of those full field sprints. After her first few rides, she found herself immediately hooked, inspired by the community and the physical challenge of spinning.

Starting this week, Abbey will be taking over the 7:00 pm Cycle on Mondays. Following her killer community rides over the last few weeks, she chatted with us about what inspires her as a rider, what we may expect from her classes, and a few of her favorite things outside of the studio.

I ride at Rêve because…

It allows me to escape my every day. When I ride, I’m able tune out of whatever may be going on outside of the studio and tune into the ride; to get an absolutely amazing workout and leave feeling strong, empowered and refreshed.

Teaching’s a big job! About what are you most excited? What makes your class unique?

I’m most excited to start connecting with the community and improve my teaching style with every class. Each Rêve instructor brings a unique energy to the studio, and I think that is reflected in my teaching style. I like to push myself to the limit and work hard, all while enjoying what I’m doing and having some fun!

My favorite moment in class is when…
...when I see riders tuning in and really connecting with a song and letting themselves go, focusing solely on being present during the ride. There’s nothing like that moment when you let your mind go and your body takeover on the bike.

The most challenging part about becoming an instructor has been…

...developing the confidence in my ability to exude the right energy to motivate riders. This is conveyed through building a great playlist for a killer ride, but even in the basics like talking and spinning at the same time. However, I love continuing to grow and face all of these challenges head-on.

Some songs you’ll definitely find on my first few playlists will be…

Music has always been a huge part of my life (I was actually named after the album “Abbey Road”) and I love everything from folk to indie, rap, country, pop, jazz, you name it, I probably have a few favorite songs in that style. Two artists that you’ll be likely to find on my first few playlists are John Mayer and ODESZA.

When I’m not at the studio, you can find me…

I love to cook healthy recipes so I tend to spend a lot of time in both the kitchen and at the grocery store. I’m from Vermont and grew up loving the outdoors so you’ll also often find me running or walking outside. I love to challenge myself, so I’m always looking for the next race to train for.

Anything else you'd like the Rêve community to know about you?

I can’t wait to start connecting with riders and learn what they look for in a class. I’m always looking for ways to learn, grow and improve my teaching style and I would love to get feedback from riders, whether it’s songs they’d love to hear, things I’m doing well or things that might make class better!
