Introducing Rêve's Newest Rockstar: Mary Emmi
Our Rêve instructor team has gained another amazing member! Meet Mary Emmi, who most of you will recognize as a familiar face around the studio. In addition to being a rockstar on the spin bike, Mary is an endurance athlete who found her way to the bike as an excellent way to cross train for her various endurance endeavors. As she gets ready to take a permanent spot on our Summer Schedule, we chatted with her about what inspired her to become an instructor and what we might come to expect from her classes!
I ride at Rêve because… it's a low impact, high intensity form of cardio. I think it's the best type of cross training for endurance athletes!
Teaching’s a big job! I'm most excited to...embrace this new challenge! I love coming into Rêve as rider. If I'm having a bad day or need a little extra motivation, going to class has helped me hone the psychological side of my athleticism. I'll be bringing that mindset to my classes; I'd like to help push riders through their challenges - whether those be physical or mental.
My favorite moment in class is when… you bring your legs back to a regular cadence after a hard sprint in the saddle.
The most challenging part about becoming an instructor has been… talking and riding at the same time! I'd like to avoid sounding like Darth Vader.
Some songs you’ll definitely find on my first few playlists will be… "Messin' Around" by Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias, "Livin' Thing" by ELO, anything by R. Kelly just to name a few. I love most genres of music, so finding new songs to add to my playlists has become a hobby! Also, I'm open to suggestions, so feel free to send 'em my way!
When I’m not at the studio, you can find me…outside! I'm an exercise junkie so I enjoy running, cycling, hiking, golfing, swimming, cross country skiing - really just about any form of physical activity. I'm also currently training for the Tri For A Cure so I'll be out and about on long runs and bikes this summer. You can also find me snuggling with my adorable cat, Kiki, and enjoying Game of Thrones on Sunday nights.
Mary Emmi will be taking over the Thursday 5:30 ride. Keep your eye on the schedule for our summer scheduling changes and updates!
