"Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm."
A few years ago, Amanda walked into Rêve in search of a little personal time and self-care. After her first class, she found herself smiling ear-to-ear, refreshed and ready to face the challenges of being a new mother. Over the next several months she became a regular at the studio and it became clear: Rêve isn't just about exercise, it's about taking up space for yourself. It's about taking care of yourself. She grew to love the fast pace of the classes and was constantly inspired by the diverse community of riders. In her classes, you can expect to find a place to move and grow, inspired by her signature super fun, eclectic playlists. She aims to build a class where each person can get what they need, aided by power of the community behind them.
“Don’t wait until the finish line to be proud. Be proud that you started."
For many years, Emily searched for her fitness niche. After a number of starts and stops, a work event introduced her to Rêve; one year and countless classes later, it is safe to say she finally found it. At the studio, she observed that people walked through the doors in pursuit of a good workout, but it was something bigger that kept them coming back: the fact that everyone in that room has actively chosen to give their energy to each other and committed to being part of something bigger than themselves. A self-described music “super fan” Emily sprinkles her soundtracks with a wide variety of genres, generating a 50-minute dance party that you won’t want to miss.
Introduced to a love of cycling and music by her dad before she learned to walk (she rode everywhere with him on his bike, and they stopped frequently at his favorite local record stores!), Savannah found the two merged seamlessly in her first indoor cycling class. She sought many classes to fuel her obsession while living in Boston, but it wasn’t until she moved back home to Maine that she found a true sanctuary in Rêve. Not only was it the powerful work out she was looking for and more, but it was the Rêve community and energy that kept her coming back almost daily until pursuing teaching in 2015. In her classes, you will find a mix of classics (heavy emphasis on the Boss!) and new beats that will keep intensity and heart rates high!
"Stay humble. Work hard. Be kind."
Fitness has always been a huge part of Meg C.’s life. From playing sports through college to her current career as a physical therapist, she believes that there is nothing more important to me than taking care of yourself. She initially came to Rêve in pursuit of a workout, but ended up finding so much more among the amazing community. She cultivates her classes as a time where her riders can clip in and disconnect from the chaos of everyday life. You can expect a high energy playlist, drawing from her eclectic list of favorites, everything from country to pop, hip-hop to EDM, and even some indie hits. When she’s not at the studio, Meg loves to spend her free time with her family and out on Sebago Lake!
"Fitness isn't about being better than someone else, it's being better than you used to be."
Teaching indoor cycling is just one of Stephanie B.’s many talents. As a certified BOSU, Boxing, Body Pump, and X-Bike/Spinning instructor with a BA in Sports Medicine concentrated in Health Fitness, Stephanie has made her passion for strengthening and elevating the well-being of others her life’s work for the past 15 years. She wants everyone to know how great they can feel by living an active, fit and healthy life, and it shows in her fun, high-intensity indoor cycling classes. When she’s not teaching, Stephanie is spending time with her family or training for a competitive event like a triathlon or road race.
"Most people never go far enough on their first wind to find out they've got a second.”
A Maine native, Jennifer moved to Portland after graduating from Colby College, where she played basketball for four years. Without the team workouts throughout the year to hold her accountable, Jennifer found herself looking for a way to stay active while being part of something larger then herself. When she found the Rêve Community, something sparked immediately. Having never spun before, she fell in love with the excitement, passion, workout, and killer playlists. As an instructor, Jennifer wants riders to push themselves as a reminder that we are all so much stronger than we give ourselves credit for, and, above all, to have fun! Outside of the studio, Jennifer works in commercial real estate and spends the majority of her free time in the kitchen, putting her professional-grade culinary skills to use.
"Take no moment for granted."
Last October, Sarah moved back to her native Maine from New York City and was looking for a replacement for her beloved bootcamp class she had left behind and found it at Rêve. She and her mother had taken upon cycling while training for the Tri for a Cure a few years earlier, and spinning seemed like a natural fit. Not only did she discover a great workout, she redefined for herself what it meant to exercise, finding a community of riders full of energy, positivity, and strength. Her classes combine a driving beat with an energetic workout, and she loves seeing the satisfied smiles that reflect a sense of accomplishment. When not at the studio, she can usually be found searching for active adventures in the great outdoors!
“Easy doesn’t change you.”
Erin considers exercise as her favorite form of therapy and Rêve is her church. She has been a long distance runner for as long as she can remember, enjoying the mental escape and self-motivation. She first began group exercise instruction in college where she taught classes for a free gym membership. Erin began practicing yoga over ten years ago to offset her intensive marathon training and was immediately drawn to the physical practice. Yet, between her athletic endeavors and a full-time job in finance, she found it difficult to quiet her mind. With the encouragement of her mother (Rêve Instructor, Susan Hoffman) Erin began taking weekend intensive yoga teacher trainings and traveled regularly to NYC to participate in a variety of barre classes and trainings. Barre classes were a natural fit as they combined a challenging, sweat-inducing workout with the benefits of yoga and Pilates based principals, bringing a more balanced and effective approach to fitness classes. Tone & Trim quickly became a Rêve favorite, due to Erin's amazing energy and inspiring playlists. Erin stays busy between her full-time gig in finance, spending as much time at Rêve as possible and playing outside with her border terrier, George Henry, daughter, Olive, and boyfriend, Charlie (who also happens to be a T&T regular!).
“A new breath. A new moment.”
Chris is a Mainer who brings a fresh perspective to Rêve through his background as a professionally trained actor and performer. He is a Connecticut College grad, former NYC/Brooklyn pirate, and now a proud Portland resident with his family. He began cycling with his dad and brother in the Trek Across Maine every year—and first came to Rêve to train for the event during the winter. Chris believes training with fun and dedicated friends is the best way to promote a healthy lifestyle. Outside the studio, Chris works for Mulkerin Real Estate as a full time agent helping folks find their next home, investment or weekend getaway. He is enamored by the minimalist lifestyle and dreams of living on a boat with his family (and thanks to one Netflix documentary about living with less stuff, he feels he is getting closer to that dream).
Seek what sets your soul on fire.
Being a soccer player all of her life, Abbey has always been passionate about health and staying fit. During college, she started to get into lifting and other forms of cross-training to improve her game. Upon graduating, she was looking for something new and found Rêve –she immediately became hooked. Not only did she find an effective workout, but she found the Rêve community to be unmatched. Rêve improved her overall fitness and has become a personal escape. There’s nothing quite like walking into the studio before a ride when the energy is high and everyone is ready to get on the bike and get after it. She brings a high level of energy to her classes and provide Rêvers with not only a great playlist, but a tough and fun ride that will leave her riders feeling strong and empowered--mentally and physically.
"We must be willing to let go of the life had had planned in order to have the life that is waiting for us."
A friend introduced Amber to Rêve a little over a year ago, during a time in which she was looking for a place to get a good workout. When she walked through the doors of the studio, she found so much more. Amber works in the police departments of Cumberland County as a domestic violence advocate; Reve quickly became a place she could disengage from work and life, and focus on taking care of herself. After riding for a little while, she knew she had to become a part of this team in a bigger way. Her passion for health, fitness, music, and empowering others drove her to want to take it to the next level as an instructor.
Fitness classes have been a part of Susan’s life for as long as she can remember: first as a way to cross train as a competitive runner and then, in 2003, she left her desk job and jumped in as a full-time fitness professional. She has taught everything spin to Pilates, yoga to bootcamp. In 2010, she moved to Maine, and these days can be found teaching yoga around Greater Portland. It was her daughter–and fellow instructor–Erin McDonald who introduced Susan to Rêve, but the palpable positive energy and sense of community of the studio that kept her coming back. At Rêve she will be bringing a combination of barre, pilates, and yoga to create a unique Tone & Trim experience. No matter what type of class she’s teaching though, her first question is always the same: “Do you want to come out and play?”
Meet Alexis R.
"Strength grows in the moments when you think you can't go on but you keep going anyway."
When Alexis experienced a Rêve workout for the first time, she was absolutely hooked! A lifelong athlete, she swam competitively in high school and college, and went on to compete in triathlons - from sprints to half-ironman distances - for years. When running took its toll, she found a replacement sport at Rêve, where she found an amazing team in the Rêve community. Having always been a music junkie, Alexis has made playlists for every occasion and season since adolescence, and grounds her classes in fun and inspiring playlists to drive a challenging workout. Spinning to the beat of fun and inspiring music is having the best of both worlds all at once! When not at the studio or at Freeport High School, where she works as a School Counselor, Alexis is usually hanging with her beloved family, and supporting her two kids in their adventures, or out on the hills on her road bike.
Nicola found Yoga Sculpt when recovering from a back injury in college and determined to come back stronger for her diving season, and immediately fell in love. In her classes, she discovered her happy place: an upbeat, high energy, calorie burning class that had all the core beliefs of yoga; 60 minutes to focus on you and only you, surrounded by positive people that build you up. Inspired by this, she completed the rigorous training program at CorePower Yoga in 2018—and hasn’t looked back since! Outside of the studio, Nicola works in commercial real estate and can be found exploring all around Maine—hiking, sailing, and walking around Mackworth Island with her maltipoo, Shea, and her fiancé, Nick.
"Eliminate what doesn't help you evolve."
Fitness has always played a key role in Kat's life. She started playing sports at a very young age and played field hockey throughout college. Since graduating, fitness has remained an integral part of her routine whether it be spinning, biking, HIIT, strength training, boxing, running, yoga, or dancing, Kat feels better when she's being active. It not only benefits her body but also her mind. She began her teaching career at a small studio in San Juan, Puerto Rico and loved leading others through her classes. Kat combines her love of various fitness routines into one high energy HIIT fusion class that is a great addition to spinning at Reve. The class will challenge you and leave you feeling stronger inside and out.
